Track Premiere: Altars – ‘Unholy Retribution’

The sick minds at Sentient Ruin Laboratories have dug up another slab of death metal, this time California death metal bands Altars. Their debut 7-inch is the kind of raw, unfiltered death metal that is unaware of trends. Citing influences like Benediction, (early) Carcass, Bolt Thrower and Psuedogod, Altars tear through the EP with impunity. Altars won’t drop the EP until August 25, but Decibel has acquired a stream of first song “Unholy Retribution” to introduce the band.

“This 7-inch is the product of four friends who love old school death metal,” Altars collectively state. “Taking inspiration from Autopsy, Morbid Angel, Bolt Thrower and combining it with the straightforward, no-frills delivery of Napalm death and other grindcore, this is our offering to the altar.”

Pre-order Altars’ debut from Sentient Ruin in the US and Dawnbreed in Europe.
