Video Premiere: Domination Campaign – ‘The Sniper’s Gaze’

Domination Campaign is a new name to Decibel readers, but many are familiar with long-running Tasmanian tech-death unit Psycroptic, fronted by vocalist Jason Peppiatt. Formed as a solo project before expanding to include Psycroptic drummer Joe Haley, Domination Campaign forego the technical elements of their main project in favor of straight grooves, like the ones heard on “The Sniper’s Gaze.”

A cut from Domination Campaign’s upcoming debut, Onward to Glory, “The Sniper’s Gaze” is a chugging, grooving beast of a track; bolstered by beefy production from Haley, “The Sniper’s Gaze” is death metal to mosh to.

“With ‘The Sniper’s Gaze’ we wanted to get that really old school rocking feel to it,” Peppiatt says. “It’s one of those songs that you just want to bang your head to! Lyrically, it’s set in World War I—like a lot of the album—exploring the feeling soldiers must have had waking up in no man’s land after a battle. For the video, we wanted to keep it simple and just jam out in a rehearsal room and get some nice rolling camera shots together.”
