It’s time for a trans-continental grindcore assault with Japanese-Belgian duo Monnier. Their latest release—a self-titled compilation, streaming below—combines the band’s first two EPs for 27 minutes of insanity.
Multi-instrumentalist Jasper Swerts handles the guitar, bass and drums, pushing for breakneck speeds and cutting precision at all times, drawing comparisons to Wormrot, later Napalm Death, Insect Warfare and Pig Destroyer. Vocalist Makiko Suda (Flagitious Idiosyncrasy in the Dilapidation) shrieks and grunts with the intensity required of such light-speed music.
Monnier make no bones about their style and their intentions playing music.
“Monnier is grindcore the way it was meant to be… technical, ripping and blistering!” the duo tell Decibel. “Prepare for an all out audible assault.”
Horror Pain Gore Death are set to release Monnier on April 19 (pre-orders available via Bandcamp), but you can stream the full compilation now.
