Gimme Radio Now Offering Displaced Touring Bands A Free Platform To Reach Their Fans

Extreme times call for extreme music. Since 2017, digital music veterans and perennial Decibel Magazine Metal & Beer Fest sponsor Gimme Radio have remained committed to providing just that; operating the world’s first 24/7 metal-focused streaming service. Sporting a DJ roster 70+ deep boasting the likes of Dave Mustaine, Randy Blythe and our own Jefe Albert Mudrian, listeners are provided a steady stream of free and continuous hand-picked metal programming, and can also communicate with one another in real time via live chat while the music is being played. As we all self-isolate in the days ahead, this is a prime opportunity to join this community, discover and support new music, and connect over the things that matter most.

Now, Gimme Radio is also utilizing this platform to give touring metal bands who have been affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic the opportunity to host and create their own radio shows as part of their Gimme Relief: Guest DJ special series.  Members of the bands will be able to program and host these shows from the safety of their own homes / practice spaces / squalid underground lairs and then connect and communicate directly with their fans and Gimme Radio listeners in the live chat feed. In addition to fostering these communal events, Gimme Radio will also be helping the bands move back-stocked tour merchandise, Vinyl/CDs, and give listeners the opportunity to support the bands directly via a virtual tip jar. Considering this service is free, available via desktop and mobile and they don’t play shitty audio ads, if you haven’t logged in to see what all this fuss is about, now would be a damned good time.

Our inside scoop indicates there will be some big Gimme Relief radio show announcements in the short time to come, but for right now the launch of this benefit series airs Wednesday March 18th at 7pm with Mathieu Rondeau, Guitarist/Vocalist of Montreal-based Speed Metal Trio Warsenal.

If you miss the kickoff, don’t stress: more benefit shows are rolling out soon and the usual Gimme Radio DJ rotation of musicians, label owners, producers, artists, and music journalists has you covered in the meantime. Stay tuned for more announcements as they come, and if you are band affected by this pandemic and you are interested in programming a radio show (or know others who might be) please reach out to [email protected].

Additionally, if you’re in the mood to hop in the time machine back to Decibel Beer & Metal Fest LA 2018, part 1 of our 2 part flashback series from the Wiltern airs this Friday March 20th at 7pm with interviews from Khemmis, Tom G Warrior, Pounder, Pig Destroyer, Wolf King, Haunt, Necrot, The Black Dahlia Murder, Yob, Trappist, Power Trip, Skeletal Remains, and Dave Mustaine.
