Video Premiere: Vokonis – ‘I Hear the Siren’

Swedish stoner/doom trio Vokonis take a softer approach with the song “I Hear the Siren,” which comes from their upcoming Grasping Time album. The song begins on a dark, somber note, channeling Alice in Chains more than the thunderous, sludgy doom of previous albums, like 2017’s The Sunken Djinn. By the song’s end, however, Vokonis return to their heavier tendencies, offering thick riffs and faster drumming.  The accompanying video for “I Hear the Siren,” which you can watch below, showcases the band performing in a dark room.

“‘I Hear the Siren’ was the last song we wrote for our new album, Grasping Time,” guitarist/vocalist Simon Ohlsson explains. “It’s a showcase of the new dual-vocal Vokonis in a nutshell with loud guitars, quiet interludes and an explosive finale.”

Grasping Time is out on August 30 via The Sign.
