Track Premiere: Fulci – ‘Eye Full of Maggots’

Fulci keep things short, simple and brutal on their newest offering, “Eye Full of Maggots.” Over roughly two-and-a-half minutes, the Italian death dealers unleash a sonic wrecking ball with super-low gutturals, crushing grooves and thunderous drumming. As with all things Fulci, the band’s lyrics cover the work of Lucio Fulci, who is best known as a director of horror films.

Tropical Sun is our second album and it’s based on the movie Zombi 2,” Fulci (the band) tell Decibel. “The album continues our death metal tribute to Lucio Fulci’s filmography. The track ‘Eye Full of Maggots’ was inspired by the extraordinarily-grisly effects curated by Giannetto De Rossi, Maurizio Trani and Rosario Prestopino in the cult scene in which a putrescent zombie slowly rises from the tomb biting the neck of a young girl. The zombie’s skin is extremely decomposed and his eye orbit is full of worms! We look at our music and lyrics as a reflection of this disgusting gore.”

Tropical Sun is out May 31.
