Wacken Metal Battle USA Submissions Open Tomorrow, Oct. 6

Wacken Metal Battle USA, an annual battle of the bands that gives unsigned acts the chance to play at Wacken, one of the world’s largest open-air metal festivals, will officially open submissions for 2019 tomorrow, Oct. 6. The way it works is pretty straightforward: selected bands will participate in qualifying rounds, plus a final, in participating cities. From there, the winners in each participating city will face off in a final battle that will determine which band will go to Wacken.

From there, a band from each participating country will perform and ultimate winners will be selected from those bands. The current participating cities are Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, Dallas, Houston, Austin, Corpus Christi, Atlanta, Tampa Bay, Orlando, New York City and Chicago, with more to be announced.

“Wacken Open Air is one of the biggest metal festivals on the planet,” organizer Jon Asher says. “Every metalhead in a band has this festival on their bucket list to perform on. I’m proud to bring Metal Battle USA to American shores for a third year and crown one unsigned band with the privilege and experience of performing to thousands.”
