Sometimes there’s nothing quite like the classics. Just look at the list of bands who’ve put their own spin on Black Sabbath’s “Symptom of the Universe” (Sepultura, The Melvins). Now you can add New York heavy duo Uniform’s cover to the list.
Uniform’s cover is mostly faithful, featuring the same distorted riffing and echoing vocals the original used… at least until the end. Where Sabbath opts for a cleaner jam after the solo, Uniform goes in a much noisier direction. Take a listen below.
“Symptom of the Universe” is considered by many to be the first thrash metal song, first appearing on Black Sabbath’s Sabotage in 1975.
This rendition comes off of Uniform’s Ghosthouse, the duo’s first release for Sacred Bones. Ghosthouse is out today, so if the Sabbath cover won you over, you can pick it up here.
