Full Album Stream: Immortal Force – “Mystic Seance Unrealities”

Do you love Obituary but wish they thrashed and grinded just a little harder? If your answer is “yes,” then I’ve got an album to pitch you: Mystic Seance Unrealities, the new album from Canadian death-thrashers Immortal Force. Their first LP after a demo and pair of splits with fellow Canadian bands Expunged and Nephilim’s Noose, Mystic Seance Unrealities wears its influences proudly and bloodily on its sleeve with Carcass and Napalm Death covers and a sound that neatly mimics the classic ’80s and early ’90s extreme metal scene.

Mystic Seance Unrealities features 10 songs and it keeps things mostly simple, hacking and thrashing their way through 45 minutes of gore and ’80s horror worship. It ends on “Uncreate the Neverspawn,” a sprawling seven-minute song that sees Immortal Force dip their toes into the doomy side of the pool, creating a dark atmosphere that seals the deal. It’s a strong debut full-length from the band, who understand what makes early, no-frills death metal so fun.

Come for the “Suffer the Children” cover, stay for the original riffs. Mystic Seance Unrealities is out on November 22 via Horror Pain Gore Death (physical preorders available now) but you can stream the whole thing via Decibel.
