Full Album Stream: Cryptic Hatred – “Internal Torment”

Cryptic Hatred formed in 2019 and quickly made themselves busy, releasing a demo the next year and first album Nocturnal Sickness in 2022. Rooting themselves firmly in the realm of old-school death metal, they continued to hone their sound on a split with fellow Finns Azatoth, before setting their sights on another LP.

Internal Torment is a genuine step forward for Cryptic Hatred, focusing on atmosphere and melody—especially on songs like “Breeding of Evil”—in addition to their tight and sharp brand of old-school death. Nothing about Internal Torment will deter fans of the band’s previous work; it just also has an extra layer of dynamics that keep things engaging. Cryptic Hatred’s bread and butter is still riff-centric death metal that blasts and grooves in equal measure, clearly influenced by the Florida scene, particularly Cannibal Corpse and Deicide.

Says the band:

“We are proud to present our sophomore album Internal Torment to all you Decibel readers! This second album of ours was a tough process to make, but we managed to fight through the challenges to create something more vicious, more brutal yet beautiful and more personal than we have ever produced. Album consists of 10 songs, which takes you on a journey beginning quite literally where our debut ended, all the way through to the title track ‘Internal Torment’ as the last song. We venture out to many new atmospheres while still keeping the roots in 90s death metal! Hope you dig the album, cheers!”

Internal Torment is out July 5 on Time to Kill Records, but you can stream it below.
