Listen: Horror Pain Gore Death Ends 2021 with Year-in-Review Sampler

Most people can’t wait to finally slam the door in 2021’s face and it’s impossible to blame them given the stress, uncertainty and generally negativity of the last 12 months. In the eleventh hour of the year, Philadelphia extreme metal label Horror Pain Gore Death Productions has one final gift: their 2021 year-in-review sampler.

With 30 tracks included, there’s something for literally every metal fan on the sampler. As always, HPGD’s bread and butter is the filthy death metal the label has built a name on, but the compilation includes a healthy dose of thrash, crossover, grind, doom and even symphonic metal. Some of the names, like Coffins and Undergang, are established genre veterans but others, like experimental extreme metal group Fernwah, are new acts.

“After the unpredictability of 2020 (the premiere year of COVID Huss), 2021 has been a fast-paced, intense year for Horror Pain Gore Death Productions,” label owner Mike Juliano tells Decibel. “I personally want to thank all the bands we’ve worked with this year (both new and returning) who nailed it with consistent releases… and a special thanks to all the fans who always show their support/loyalty and keep HPGD going during these wild and crazy times. If 2021 had your head banging, then for 2022 you’re gonna need a neck brace! Cheers and happy holidaze!”
