Available tomorrow on all digital platforms, “Deceiver, I Am” is the A-side of a new 7” vinyl bearing the same name from Portland’s meteoric power metal sextet Silver Talon. Spawned from the Spellcaster schism that also begat Unto Others (formerly Idle Hands), Silver Talon channel everything that makes their triple guitar attack so killer in the first place into their new single, streaming below. Vocalist Wyatt Howell bellows as if from some mountain top, hitting highs and lows with a range few singers can match in modern metal and with producer Zack Ohren back behind the board, Silver Talon sound absolutely immortal on “Deceiver, I Am.” Heads up to the heavy metal stalwarts. The B-side is a cover of Savatage’s “Power of the Night!”
“We wanted the visual equivalent of a drug induced, lo-fi religious experience that started in a dive bar and ended at a Witches Sabbath,” explains Silver Talon. “Using VHS handicam footage and clips from the demented 1922 film Häxen, [director] GBRHL delivered in spades.”
