Track Premiere: Pulchra Morte – “The Archer & The Noose”

Collecting stateside extreme metal heavies from the likes of Wolvhammer, Eulogy, Skeletonwitch and more, Pulchra Morte began only three years ago, but immediately the quintet’s sound came off cast in stone and timeless. On their debut full-length album the stateside procession brought brutal melody back to the death-doom genre, simultaneously breaking the rules of modern death-doom while invoking a spirit long-absent from the scene.

Just before the pandemic, we premiered the first single from Pulchra Morte’s sophomore full-length, then unnamed. Now the American death-doom demigods’ second album is finished and named Ex Rosa Ceremonia. Recorded, mixed and produced at New Constellation by (one of) Pulchra Morte’s guitarist Jarrett Pritchard, with cover art by Brian Sheehan, Ex Rosa Ceremonia comes out November 6 on Transcending Records.

Today we have the pleasure of presenting our readers with another single from Ex Rosa Ceremonia. Guest vocalist Heather Dykstra and guest cellist Naarah Strokosch return to help Pulchra Morte crush breath-taking death-doom to move even the most callus hearts. Pulchra Morte vocalist Adam Clemans says, “‘The Archer & The Noose’ is easily one of my favorite pieces on the record. Collaborating with Heather [Dykstra] was very enjoyable as well. She’s a properly trained singer and I thought it was very interesting that, without talking directly, we ended up writing the same melody for the clean sung section. It was meant to be.”
