Rogga Johansson and Paul Speckmann are two impressive minds on their own and together, they are a monster, the former as the guitarist, vocalist and main force behind Paganizer and the latter as the bassist and vocalist for death metal legends Master. As Johansson & Speckmann, the two combine to deliver crusty, Swedish-style death metal.
Joined by drummer Brynjar Helgetun (Kam Lee, Gods Forsaken) and guitarist Kjetil Lynghaug (Paganizer), Johansson & Speckmann have kept up a constant output since forming, releasing an album every year or two years. This year is no different, with the forthcoming release of The Germs of Circumstance, the group’s fifth album since 2013.
If you know anything about the dozens of projects Johansson, Speckmann, Helgetun and Lynghaug have been involved with over their careers, you know The Germs of Circumstance will be nasty, but you can confirm it by listening to “Take the Lion’s Share,” the latest offering from the album, out October 9 on Soulseller.
