Track Premiere: Vane – ‘Row, Ye Scallywags!’

If you’ve made it to this post, there’s a decent chance that you were looking for pirate metal in the vein of Alestorm or Swashbuckle. Despite the similarities in name and subject , “Row, Ye Scallywags!”—the latest single from Polish melodeath crew Vane—has more in common with Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy and Children of Bodom than their peg-legged brethren.

“Row, Ye Scallywags!” begins with the sound of an ocean before launching into bouncing riffs and catchy, rhythmic vocals. Gatecreeper vocalist Chase Mason has mentioned the term “stadium death metal” recently in regards to the band’s latest album and the same is true of Vane’s new single. Due to a combination of Vane’s energetic music and the bright, spacious production, it’s easy to imagine hearing “Row, Ye Scallywags!” at an open-air festival.

“Row, Ye Scallywags! is a powerful and energetic song,” guitarist Robert Zembrzycki tells Decibel. “It’s the fury of the storm on an open sea told in riff language. It features a very catchy chorus that will undoubtedly become a staple in our live set!”

Listen to the new song below. Vane will release a new album in 2020.
