Video Premiere: Haunt – ‘Mind Freeze’

Trevor William Church, the vocalist, guitarist and songwriter for Fresno heavy metal heroes Haunt, has exuded an obvious love of 1980s since his project first innocuously appeared on Bandcamp less than two-and-a-half years ago. The best moments of New Wave of British Heavy legends like Angel Witch, Iron Maiden and Satan were and still remain at the core of Haunt’s infectious songs, but with the forthcoming new LP, Mind Freeze, Church has added another layer of ’80s accents — dark synth swells in nearly every new track.

You’ll be able to hear how it all works — and, trust us, it totally works — when Mind Freeze arrives in the frostbitten wastes of January 10 via Shadow Kingdom (pre-order links below). Until then, Decibel has the world premiere of the first single and Jessica Rudolph-directed video for the epic title track of “Mind Freeze.”

“’Mind Freeze’ is about those difficult times that you just can’t seem to get passed,” Church tells Decibel. “You try and try and there is just a wall of ice blocking you from your final destination.”
