Track Premiere: Brain Tentacles – ‘Yes’

If you were hoping that the new Brain Tentacles song would be accessible, or even just “kind of weird,” you are going to be disappointed. If you were hoping for another avant-garde jam featuring the collective weirdness of drummer Dave Witte (Municipal Waste, Discordance Axis, et al.), saxophonist Bruce Lamont (Yakuza) and bassist Aaron Dallison (Keelhaul), you’re in luck.

“Yes” is pulled from Brain Tentacles’ upcoming split with noise rockers and Decibel faves Child Bite, who are on a roll with split releases right now. Each member has an opportunity to shine on “Yes”—Witte’s drumming is the backbone of the song and Dallison’s bass can be heard rumbling underneath Lamont’s bright horns, which lead the song when Witte or Dallison aren’t showing off their technical prowess.

“Our motto is ‘making things as easy as possible’ and it really shines on this one,” Witte tells Decibel. “The title a direct influence from Will Scharf tackling a complex question with the one answer to rule them all: ‘Yes.'”
