Track Premiere: Burn “Dead Identity”

From essentially the first frenzied notes of the band’s incendiary 2015 Black N’ Blue Bowl comeback show…

…dreams of a more lasting, substantial Burn reunion gripped the imaginations of no small number of fans of smart, meaningful, paradigm-obliterating heavy music. And while the 2016 reunion EP …From the Ashes proved a solid reassertion of contemporary relevance, the upcoming full-length Do or Die delivers a sonic conflagration not only eminently worthy of the band’s elemental moniker, but also one that represents the most adventurous and diverse offering of the scene evolution-instigating legend’s career — constitutionally unconventional, heavy as hell, and teeming with a restless spirit and iconoclasm still present…and more compelling and affecting than ever.

Check out an exclusive stream of the Do or Die jam “Dead Identity” below.

“You throw away your personal power when you trade in your internal substance, what moves you, what gives you life for an external promise that lacks fulfillment,” vocalist Chaka Malik writes in to Decibel, keeping it succinct when asked for a primer on the track’s backstory.

Do or Die is out September 8 via Deathwish. Preorder here.
