Premiere: Get schooled in death metal, and Latin, with Echelon’s “Lex Talionis”

Dave Ingram! Alright, now that we have the attention of every death metal fan reading this, we’re as excited as death metal guys can be to be giving you this exclusive premiere of a new Echelon song.

The band, which is fronted by Ingram (who you know from Hail of Bullets, Bolt Thrower, Down Among the Dead Men, and Benediction), also features Rogga Johansson and Kjetil Lynghaug from Paganizer and Johansson & Speckmann, Johan Berglund of Ribspreader, and Travis Ruvo of Akatharta.

The song, “Lex Talionis,” is from the band’s upcoming second album, The Brimstone Aggrandizement, which is being released on December 22 on Transcending Obscurity Records. It’s a raging track that finds the band riding a death metal d-beat (early in the song) to those places of glory (middle of the song) that Ingram’s other bands so often inhabit.

“The law of retaliation, often known as ‘eye for an eye,’ is the meting out of punishment to the same degree as the crime committed,” explains Ingram about the song. “It is sometimes referred to as Law of the Talion, but in Latin it is Lex Talionis. Exacting the same level of revenge, where the punishment corresponds in kind and degree to the injury.”

In other words, it’s death metal. Enjoy. You can check out Echelon’s bandcamp page right here.
