Homewrecker have come a long way since their formation; having left a wide swath of destruction down the middle of several scenes. Whether it was grindcore, death metal, hardcore, what have you: Homewrecker were there, crushing it. Their 2012 full length Worms & Dirt seems to have only gotten heavier with each passing season. Earlier this year the band took part in a 4-way split with their brothers in Scorched, Outer Heaven and Gatecreeper, not to mention all the absurdly monstrous releases in-between. Now, after almost nine years, Homewrecker have cast off their shackles of servitude to their influences, and have begun to napalm a path all their own.
To prove that, we bring you “Prophet Liar,” the first (and exclusive) sample of what’s lying in wait on Extinction by Design, the quartet’s impending EP. On “Prophet Liar,” Homewrecker manage to fit a false start and an outro in a four minute song that’s so concussive and so jam-packed with madness, it’ll take at least a dozen listens before you even understand what’s laying you low.
Here’s what Homewrecker’s drummer, the enigmatic Matt Izzi, says about “Prophet Liar:”
