Do you hate the music of young people? Do you prefer to wax nostalgic with your middle age friends about how no “kids today” can belt out the brutal/intense side of screamo, veering into grind, along the lines of Orchid, Pg. 99, early Converge and Discordance Axis like the masters anymore?
Then Philly/Chicago’s Knife Hits—featuring members of Backslider, ex-Khann, ex-Republicorpse—are your new favorite band. Their debut album Eris—produced by Jon Nunez of Torche—drops September 16 (with Dead Tank handling the digital and CD, and Hydrogen Man and Give Praise teaming on the vinyl version), but here’s 52 seconds of it in the form of “Descent” to get your old man rage juices flowing.
“Written during our first winter out of Florida, the shock of the polar vortex lead to a little depression which was channeled into musical carnage,” Knife Hits guitarist Jake Smith says of the track. “I think this song in particular helped our drummer Jono keep warm.”
