Video Premiere: Irreversible – “Thoth”/”Esus”

February 9, 2026 Adem Tepedelen
Exclusive, Featured, Track Premiere, Videos Atlanta, atmospheric metal, Dipterid Records, Doom Metal, Irreversible, Post Metal, Sludge, Stoner Metal, Vessel.

Kind of an unsusual premiere from Atlanta post-metal sludge purveyors, Irreversible. The outfit’s upcoming new LP, Vessel, features two 20-minute tracks (one per vinyl side)—”Thoth” and “Esus”—so doing a “track premiere” wasn’t really an option. This “teaser video,” featuring nearly six minutes of music excerpted from both tracks, is the compromise. So, you get a very impressionistic black and white video, with some wide-ranging sounds—from noise to buzzy sludge to post-metal atmospherics. The album was composed and executed by Jackob Franklin (guitar/vocals), Zach Richards (drums), Billy Henis (keyboards/vocals), Spencer Ussery (bass/vocals), Justin Brush (guitar/vocals) and Johnny Dang (guitar), and is the first new music from Irreversible since 2015.

Vessel was written, recorded and produced by the band. Drum tracking and mixing was done by Matt Washburn; vocal tracking by TJ Elias and mastering by Carl Saff. It’s set for release on vinyl and digitally in March 13, via Dipterid Records. Place your preorder here. If you’re in the Atlanta area, check out the album release show on March 21 at The Earl in East Atlanta Village.

The band had this to say about Vessel:

“Vessel is comprised of two movements, which are each 20 minutes in length, employing contrasting but complementary sonic palettes. This video features previews from each track and was created by the band as an homage to work of the filmmaker Ben Rivers.”
