Constant reader, do you have one minute—just one minute!—of your day for the new Gadget single, “Flatline”? Streaming below, the new ripper comes in advance of the Swedish vets’ upcoming EP, Coerced, which is slated for a May 8 release. The first significant collection of Gadget songs since 2016’s The Great Destroyer, it’s also the recorded debut of new guitarist Kristofer Jankarls and vocalist Emilia Henriksson, whose shrieks and screams pierce through the scorching instrumental.
“One of the earliest songs written for this release, ‘Flatline’ manifests both the typical later Gadget sound as well as giving a hint of what’s to come with the release as a whole,” Gadget offer of the song. “With lyrics penned by Emilia during the pandemic, it’s a bleak and dynamic track about isolation, sickness, frustration and giving up.”
