Track Premiere: Heretic Plague – “Briefcase Full of Cutlery”

Heretic Plague

Bathe in the intense grind/death madness that is the latest from Heretic Plague, “Briefcase Full of Cutlery,” from their forthcoming, debut album, Context Is a Stumbling Corpse, out April 7 via Selfmadegod Records.

The raw aggression of the track rips through you like a blade through flesh, and the horror and grind influences apparent in their straightforward death sound are familiar but welcome.

Heretic Plague were originally formed by guitarist and bassist Adam Watts, an original member of cult U.K. grind band Beef Conspiracy. Also in the band is his former band made Tom Bradfield on vocals and drums. The album was recorded at Grindethic HQ, mixed and mastered by Tom Bradfield, and completed with artwork and layout by Bradfield and Midjourney.

Bradfield says of “Briefcase Full of Cutlery,” “This track was originally released during a different incarnation of the band when they were going under the name ‘Bisected Cripple Pyre,’ with a sound blending grindcore with breakcore. The new version has a very different, more traditional death/grind sound but still retains some of the disjointed and jarring rhythms of the original.”
