You only wish your lame holiday work party had Swedish psych metallers Spiral Skies as the featured entertainment. The Stockholm-based quintet—Frida (vocals), Eric (bass), Daniel (drums), Jonas (guitars), Dan (guitars)—has unleashed a brand new video for the track, “Into the Night,” that features the band dressed in full disco(?) regalia performing for an audience of masked stiffs (actually the band), who look like they arrived at the venue after a funeral/masquerade party. The whole thing is weird, if we’re being honest, but it suits the season, and the song itself is a trad metal/hard rock gem with plenty of excellent dual-guitar harmonies and Frida’s Grace Slick-like vocals.
“Into the Night” was taken from Spiral Skies’ second album, Death Is But a Door, which was issued by AOP Records last March. The album was recorded at Studio Ryssviken (Tribulation, Lucifer, Dead Lord) in May 2021 and was produced by Emil Drougge. You can order Death Is But a Door from the AOP US shop here, or the AOP EU shop here.
Here’s what the band had to say about “Into the Night”:
“No secrets hide in the light. To seek the unknown, we must take a leap into the darkness. Follow the chant into the night.”
