Black Fucking Cancer are pure black fucking metal on “Obscene Lusting Dagger,” the second track from the San Jose-based trio’s new album, Procreate Inverse. Despite the formidable track length, Black Fucking Cancer keep it interesting over all twelve minutes, varying their pacing and approach at different points in the song.
One of the areas where Black Fucking Cancer succeed the most on Procreate Inverse and on “Obscene Lusting Dagger” is the production, which conveys a feeling of grittiness and nihilism without feeling lifeless. Despite their home on the west coast of the United States, Black Fucking Cancer won’t be found pondering the beauty of nature or incorporating sparkling ambient passages. Their style is more indebted the European side of things, influenced by artists like Marduk, Funeral Mist and Gorgoroth.
