Louisiana-based metallic hardcore band Capra released their debut album, In Transmission, in April 2021. In the year since, the quartet have shown themselves to be road warriors, completing numerous tours, both by themselves and supporting the likes of Eyehategod.
Capra’s sound recalls the best parts of the mid-aughts metallic hardcore scene. In Transmission shares DNA with Converge and Every Time I Die, combining bouncing, moshable sections with emotive, post-metal parts. The Lafayette-based band also caught the attention of Knotfest, the touring festival masterminded by nü-metal institution Slipknot, who featured the band for the digital event Pulse of the Maggots in September 2021. The 12-minute performance is available to watch below, offering a good primer of what Capra sounds like and why they are a band to watch.
“Check out this livestream that we did for Knotfest’s Pulse of the Maggots if you haven’t already,” says guitarist Tyler Harper. “If you have, watch it again. Show it to your boss and then fight him while it plays. You might lose your job, but you’ll have a really cool story that involves us. We thank you for that.
“Expect some more tour info (And maybe even new music!) very soon. In the meantime – see you at Furnace Fest!”
