In an age of plague, death, and uncertainty, Sweden’s Gauntlet Rule ride couragously into the fray, offering up no-holds-barred heavy metal the old, inspired way. Featuring death metal luminary/Renaissance man Rogga Johansson (Paganizer, Massacre), bassist Peter Svensson (Assassin’s Blade, Void Moon), and vocalist Teddy Möller (Loch Vostok), Gauntlet Rule is a departure from the metals of death, but throughout the band’s as-yet-released debut album, The Plague Court, the members primary pull in all the greats, distill them into a forward-charging force, and raise fist to sky. This is heavy metal. With lyrical topics ranging from horror stories, war, internal struggles, and supernatural concepts, The Plague Court eschews the light-heartedness of present-day metallers for a serious, throat-down attack.
Indeed, the song Decibel has been honored to premiere features all of the aforementioned plus an esteemed guest in former Wolfsbane/Iron Maiden vocalist Blaze Bayley. We’ve not heard Blaze this fired up since, well, last year, when he (and rest of band) catapulted War Within Me into heavy metal fandom!
Says bassist Peter Svensson: “‘Dying for My Dreams’ is the second single from our forthcoming album The Plague Court. It features Blaze Bayley on vocals which is something of a dream come true, being massive fans of Blaze ever since The X Factor up through his brilliant solo career. Blaze even co-arranged the vocals and helped out with a word here and there! The song is a melodic uptempo track with excellent guitar work and memorable chorus. The lyrics tell the tale of a person possessing the gift of second sight but being ostracized for being different.”
Enter Gauntlet Rule’s world on “Dying for My Dreams.” Blaze, take it away…
