Members of Emperor, Gorgoroth, Cadaver and Thorns paid tribute to black metal trailblazers Mayhem at the Rockheim Hall of Fame 2021. They were inducted in an “intimate ceremony” in early September of that year, with part of the ceremony including a tribute performance to the Norwegian group.
The band included vocalist Gaahl (Gaahl’s Wyrd, ex-Gorgoroth), Emperor guitarist Samoth and drummer Trym Torson, Cadaver’s Neddo and Thorns frontman Snorre W. Ruch. A Youtube video posted on December 31 shows Mayhem watching approvingly as the group performs a rendition of “Freezing Moon,” the second track on Mayhem’s landmark debut album, De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas.
Casino Steel and The Monroes were also inducted into the Rockheim Hall of Fame’s class of 2021. You can watch the full video from the broadcast here.
