Track Premiere: Funeral Chant – “Oneiric Perversion”

Oakland black/death dealers Funeral Chant first burst out of the mausoleum with a truly killer self-titled debut in 2017, an album with production gnarly enough to be deemed “raw” but with a level of sophistication uncommon on the bedroom project circuit. They remained dormant until earlier this year, when they announced Dawn of Annihilation and shared the punishing “Lucifuge Domain.” Now, Decibel is stoked to premiere a second single from the band’s sophomore album, the equally ripping “Oneiric Perversion.”

“Oneiric Perversion” locks into its warp-speed groove right from the jump and doesn’t let up for its three-plus-minute runtime, only occasionally breaking out of its riff vortex to introduce a series of miniature, whammy-riding guitar solos. It sounds like early Slayer with even more eye makeup, and it kicks ass. Hear “Oneiric Perversion,” and read the band’s statement on the track below:

“The experience of sleep and dreaming, lust and desire, death and darkness, pulsate out from the great ocean of the abyss and crash violently upon the jagged shores of the consciousness.”
