Album Premiere: GELD – Beyond the Floor

Six years ago four hessian misfits from various scenes, bands and wastelands in and around Melbourne came together to make some noisy-as-hell, acid-influenced metallic hardcore. With members coming from bands like Nuclear Death Terror, Whitehorse and Fuil Na Seanchoille—just to name a wild few!—GELD could’ve sounded like anything. What they came out with, now callused to perfection by their demo, its follow-up EP and their debut full-length, is a sound that hits like a punch in the mouth from a big-ass, brass-knuckled fist dripping with LSD.

Next Friday the Melbourne-based psychedelic hardcore ragers will release their sophomore album, Beyond the Floor, but you can hear the whole album right now, streaming below. Suffice to say, Beyond the Floor is an absolute banger. If you’ve ever wondered what Catharsis covering The 13th Floor Elevators might sound like, wonder no longer—and that’s only the start!

“We’re rapt to have Decibel do an exclusive premiere of the album,” writes GELD. “We’ve put a fuck of a lot of work into this and it’s pretty much a razor sharp line down the centre between hardcore & metal, taking in everything from vicious punk to psychedelic prog. We’re pretty stoked to see what people get out of it.”
