Album Premiere: Warlust ‘Unearthing Shattered Philosophies’

Warlust

“Although the eeriest depths have been encountered. And a thousand mountains in front of us, without a summit in sight, we conquered the spark that fuels all passion, alongside new strength through old visions.”

This missive is that Decibel received from Warlust when asked to provide context for their new album, Unearthing Shattered Philosophies. We’re not soothsayers, prophets, or mystics, but from the vagueness of the above, it’s safe to assume, Warlust aren’t the usual Satan-Boogeyman types. Rather, from song titles like “Death Created Time,” “In the Shadow of the Alchemyst,” “I Spit on Your Grave,” and… well, “The Burning Eyes of Satan” they’re exactly the Satan-Boogeyman types, bubbled up from the ancient sulfur hot springs, destined to promulgate the Dark Lord’s message and infernal will. OK, that last part is hyperbole, but judging from Warlust’s interesting blend of war metal (Deströyer 666) and Nordic melodic death (Dissection), they’re aiming for a whole new sub-genre with all the conviction of the Prince of Darkness’ in final battle.

With scythes, spears, and magic held high, we salute Warlust’s Unearthing Shattered Philosophies!
