Video Premiere: Vultures – ‘Push’

Canadian metallic hardcore wrecking crew Vultures are preparing to bring the heat on their second EP, Hunger, in October, but Decibel has a brand new video for “Push,” the opening track on Hunger. The band’s sharp, precise riffing gives the hardcore band a distinctly metallic edge.

“Throughout Hunger, we poignantly reflect on the struggles of those impacted by substance abuse from a variety of different perspectives,” Vultures tell Decibel. “Push’ specifically is framed around dealers who prey on impoverished and impressionable peoples in order to make a living. In contrast to the undoubtedly negative connotations associated with such a living, we also examine the tribulations of said dealers who feel like they can’t make a living any other way or are forced into this particular line of work.

“In order to evoke a visual sense of this lyrical contrast, the ‘Push’ video makes ample use of vividly cut colored and colorless scenes. A bleak white, black, and grey is juxtaposed against frenetic red and pink in order to add depth and context to the depictions of struggle that we highlight in the song.

“We chose ‘Push’ as the debut song and video because we believe it acts as the perfect initial representation of, and introduction to, Hunger as an album. ‘Push’ displays some new dynamic compositional themes that are emblematic of the album as a whole, and serves as a proud standard for the songs that will be shown later on when Hunger is released.”
