Australian punks Clowns have stepped up to the big leagues for their fourth album. The Melbourne-based band will be releasing Nature/Nurture on punk mainstay Fat Wreck Chords on April 12, and today we’re premiering a raging tune from the album, “I Wanna Feel Again.”
Yes, “I Wanna Feel Again” starts slow, but the band doesn’t waste much time in picking up the tempo, and while the sounds are rooted in the sort of melodic punk that Fat Wreck Chords is known for, there’s more going on in the song, especially lyrically.
“Our new single ‘I Wanna Feel Again’is a poignant tale of persevering through mental health struggles,” says vocalist Stevie Williams. “It [starts with] melancholy, softly strummed guitars shortly counteracted by a bursting fast-paced punk track, in classic Clowns style. It’s a nudge to our listeners that it’s okay to feel shit and to not be afraid to ask your mates if they are okay. It’s also a reminder of the importance of adhering to the instructions printed on the label of your prescription meds.”
