Haunt Stream New Song ‘Defender’

We’re pretty big fans of American heavy metal torchbearers Haunt at Decibel HQ—their debut LP, Burst into Flames landed at #12 on our end-of-year list and the quartet performed at Decibel Metal & Beer Fest: Los Angeles—so naturally we were stoked when they announced their next album, If Icarus Could Fly, which is due out in May on Shadow Kingdom. Last week, they dropped “Defender,” the third single from that record.

Despite the high frequency of releases—Burst into Flames was followed by an EP in January—Haunt just keep getting better. Led by Beastmaker main man Trevor William Church, “Defender” is chock full of galloping riffs, soaring melodies and triumphant guitar solos.

“‘Defender’ is about the times we are on the edge of self destruction,” Church told Decibel. “There hopefully is a friend to help pick you up. In this scenario, there is. Enjoy! Fight the good fight.”

Check out “Defender” plus the other two released songs via Haunt’s Bandcamp.
