Warbeast, Rigor Mortis Vocalist Bruce Corbitt Dead at 56 Following Cancer Battle

Bruce Corbitt, best known as the frontman for Texas thrash outfits Rigor Mortis and Warbeast, died today, January 25, following a battle with esophageal cancer. Corbitt, who was diagnosed in May 2017, remained positive throughout treatment, keeping his fans and friends aware of his condition through Facebook Live updates.

Corbitt performed on Rigor Mortis’ Decibel Hall of Fame-inducted self-titled album as well as their 2014 album, Slaves to the Grave. He fronted Warbeast from their inception in 2006 as Texas Metal Alliance until he was forced to retire following his diagnosis. The band released three albums through Housecore; the latest, 2017’s Enter the Arena, was released in August 2017.

According to a Facebook Live video posted by Corbitt, he was moved to hospice care on January 11. A fundraiser to help offset his medical expenses is still live.
