Track Premiere: Hecate Enthroned – ‘Temples that Breathe’

UK-based blackened death metal sextet Hecate Enthroned will emerge for their first album since 2013’s Virulent Rapture when they unleash Embrace of the Godless Aeon in late January. To usher in the new record, Hecate Enthroned have shared the new offering “Temples that Breathe,” which showcases their ability to walk the line between icy, melodic black metal, mid-tempo death metal and symphonic elements.

“The track is a critique of the Catholic church for centuries of abuse,” longtime bassist Dylan Hughes tells Decibel. “It paints the church itself as being a kind of virulent entity that spreads pain and horror. Almost like the church itself is alive—Temples that Breathe. The stark menacing stills and imagery within the video create this unnerving miasma, an uneasy feeling like cold stale secular breath on the back of your neck.

“Epic sweeping orchestrations, heavy aggressive riffing, breakneck speeds and harmonies with a brutal vocal delivery – all the elements you’d expect from Hecate Enthroned which are contained in abundance on this album making this track the perfect first release to give you a flavor of the new album.”
