Belgium is probably not the location that springs to mind when considering fertile breeding grounds for black/death metal, but Rituals of the Dead Hand are here to prove that notion wrong. The new band was conceived and record in 2017, where they completed work on Blood Oath, which Decibel is streaming in full today.
A dense, scathing offering that transitions from angular riffing and relentless speed to blackened, evil doom, Blood Oath succeeds where many albums with similar genre tags fail; Rituals of the Dead Hand have successfully fused black and death metal without compromising the relentless brutality of death metal or the dark, raw nature of black metal.
