Track Premiere: Vokonis – “Runa”

“The Planet of Doom” is an animated fantasy/sci-fi film inspired by, you guessed it, doom metal. Headed by Riff Lodge Animation (responsible for this Conan video), the feature-length film will feature musical contributions from Cirith Ungol, Orchid, Wo Fat, Ufomammut, Mos Generator, Slomatics and more, plus over a dozen artists contributing to the visual aspect. “The Planet of Doom” is broken into 15 chapters, each which were interpreted by a different band and artist.

Though the film won’t see the light of day until 2020, trailers show that it’s an incredibly unique art style with an undeniably great soundtrack. The film features main character Halvar The Brave, who “seeks vengeance aboard a witch-born chopper, journeying across a psychedelic landscape on a quest to defeat the deadly beast Mördvél for the slaying of his beloved bride.”

Ripple Music will release an EP called  First Contact: Music From The Original Soundtrack ‘The Planet of Doom’ in the meantime. Today, Decibel streams the third of four tracks, Swedish doom overlords Vokonis’ “Runa.” Check it out below, and stay posted to “The Planet of Doom” social media for updates on the film.
