Video Premiere: The Absence – ‘Misery Trophies’

A part form a couple singles here and there, the Absence have been appropriately named since their last full-length LP dropped way back in 2010. If your heart has grown fonder for the Tampa-based melodic death metal quintet, then good news – they are set to return with new album A Gift for the Obsessed on March 23 via M-Theory Audio. And today Decibel is proud to unveil A Gift for the Obsessed‘s second video “Misery Trophies.”

“’Misery Trophies’ is about the toxic people that we all have in our lives,” explains vocalist Jamie Stewart. “The people who cannot wait to be the bearers of bad news – individuals so devoid of joy themselves, that they revel in the delivery of misery to others.”

The video was directed and shot by Deidra Kling and Jeramie Kling, and edited by Tommy Jones (Slayer, Testament) at VideoHammer. Check it out below.

A Gift for the Obsessed will be released on CD, digital and limited-edition vinyl (500 copies) with an alternate track sequence on red/black haze colored vinyl, a heavyweight 24-pt. jacket, a color lyric sheet and a download card. Pre-orders are available at this location.
