Strangeways Announce Beer Lineup for Decibel Metal & Beer Fest

Richmond, VA is home to a longstanding, invigorating metal scene, so it’s only right that Decibel and Strangeways, Richmond’s most metal brewery, join forces for Decibel Metal & Beer Fest.

“We’re generally just excited about being at a metal and beer festival,” says Strangeways’ Mike Hiller. “I mean, being in a huge room with hundreds of metal freaks drinking great beer and getting our faces melted off is kind of a dream come true. Personally, I’m looking forward to drinking beers from so many great breweries – especially from breweries I haven’t tried before like Hammerheart and Hoof Hearted, and hanging around my comrade brewers from all over. And on top of it all, we’re excited to be see so many brilliant bands – most of which none of us have ever seen live.”

Check out what Strangeways has in store for the fest below. They’re sure to appeal to both seasoned drinkers and those who prefer their beer on the lighter side.

Thistle Killya (11% ABV, 40 IBU)
Thistle Killya Scotch Quad is a hybrid between a Scotch Ale and a Belgian Quad. ABV 11%, aged for a full year in Macallan Scotch barrels, it showcases a sublime maltiness, intertwined with a Belgian yeast character, and finished off with notes of smooth single malt Scotch whisky.

Helles Frozen Over (5% ABV, 24 IBU)
Well, Helles finally Frozen Over, because Strangeways has released a basic, light, full-bodied lager, made famous in the beer halls in and around Munich. It is sure to please the lager connoisseur, as well as give the masses an easy-drinking option for the folks who want “just a beer.”
