Pittsburgh-based metalcore mainstays Zao will drop their latest EP, Pyrrhic Victory on November 3. The follow up to 2016’s The Well-Intentioned VirusPyrrhic Victory is explosive release that will surely ignite mosh pits more than twenty years into the band’s career thus far.

Led by powerful riffs and throat-ruining vocals, new song “The Host Has Bared Its Teeth” sets the tone for the explosive record.

“A parasite needs a host to survive, but to the host the parasite is useless,” vocalist Dan Weyandt explains about the song. “If the parasite’s presence becomes too overwhelming, the host will then take notice and find the means to destroy it.”

“To add to what Dan said: essentially, turn on the weather channel lately,” drummer Jeff Gretz adds. “Our host is obviously baring its teeth.”

Pyrrhic Victory is due out November 3 on the Zao owned and operated Observed/Observer Recordings. You can listen to “The Host Has Bared Its Teeth” below and pre-order Pyrrhic Victory here.
