Swedish duo Sons of Crom call themselves epic heavy metal, which sets the bar high based on the genre’s name alone. But Sons of Crom soar right over that bar with their new album, The Black Tower. Over eight tracks, they deliver a variety of sounds from classic and traditional heavy metal, black metal, thrash metal, plus folk and even classical music.
The Black Tower comes across like a soundtrack for a high-budget action movie, moving from a classical-inspired introduction to its full range of sounds before ending on a classical note again. It will be released through Bindrune Recordings in North America and Nordvis Produktion in Europe on August 18.
