Woman is the Earth; Earthy is the Black Metal; Exclusive is the Song Premiere

Black metal bands with music that calls to mind the home landscape of the musicians is hardly newsworthy. But when that landscape is South Dakota, listeners may find something unusual to take notice of. The music of Woman is the Earth (as well as their unusual name) calls to mind reflection of the Earth as progenitor, as well as contemplation of the open skies above, and what that means to us.

Or, if that sort of thing means nothing to you, you can just ignore all that and check out their exceptionally well-executed atmospheric(ish) black metal via the title track from their upcoming third full-length Torch of Our Final Night below.

The album will be released on Init Records on April 15th on CD, cassettte, and digital, with LP pressings due in June. As with previous albums, the band recorded and mixed the album themselves. Mastering was realized by James Plotkin of Kahante. Pre orders are available here.

In addition, you can catch Woman is the Earth live at Hammerheart Ostarablot, a festival curated by Austin Lunn of Panopticon, this weekend in Minneapolis.
