Where are they from? Dayton, Ohio. According to Wikipedia, “Ohio’s borders are 500 miles within 60 percent of the U.S. population, making Dayton a logistical centroid’ for manufacturers, suppliers and shippers.
What do they sound like? Say it with me folks, “Tin, can, hyper, blast, gore, grind”.
Why the hype? There are two things about this band that have caught my attention as well as that of the entire east coast underground it seems. The first and most obvious, is the sheer velocity of the music that is being played here. I do not find myself naturally inclined to appreciate the goregrind sound; I often find it too cartoonish for my own tastes, but this band has utilized an almost comically fast drummer, one who utilizes a sardine can for a snare drum, to create music that legitimately sounds hateful, aggressive and absurd (but in a good way). That’s just a really long way of saying “DAMN, THIS GUY DRUMS REAL FAST!” It’s rare for me when a band’s drum sound/technique takes front and center with the rest of the music filling in behind it, but that’s what this band does, and does to a devastating effect, making every other current grind band seem relatively weak by comparison. Sorry, not sorry (kissing emoji).
The other thing about this band that both amuses yet perplexes me is how difficult it is to find their music online. They have no Bandcamp, no Soundcloud, no Myspace. All that’s available in terms of full albums are a few Youtube videos of their side of splits uploaded by dedicated fans. Is this shroud of mystery intentional, meant to create some sort of mystic aura around the band? Or do they just not know how the internet works in Ohio? The world may never know.
Latest release: Honestly, I’m not even sure. All I know is they have their split with Take That Vile Fiend up on Youtube in its entirety and that’s what I’ve been mostly going on. It says it came out last year on Grindfather Productions, but who knows? Maybe the whole thing is just a front for the Russian mob? Maybe we’re all just living in a simulation? Maybe we are all just living in a snow globe that some four year old fantasized in his head. The world may never know.
Favorite track: Um. I’m not gonna sit here and try to decipher which track is which on this split. Just listen for yourself and make your own judgement. This is goregrind, not top 40, you can decide which snare-drum-spasm is your favorite. You’re an adult.
