Blast Worship: Sick/Tired

Where they from?
Chicago, Illinois. The New York Jets actually won a football game Sunday against a totally depleted and checked-out Jacksonville Jaguars team. It was the first Jets win in the state of Florida since 2014. That’s an entire decade if you couldn’t do the math. These are the small crumbs of competence you have to trick yourself into celebrating when you root for this clown show of a team. Yay, we beat Mac Jones; I think I’ll pee my pants.

Why the hype?
I have enjoyed this band since I discovered their LP Highlife back in 2010, which just so happened to be the same year that the iPhone 4 was introduced and was the last year the Jets made the NFL playoffs. Highlife stood out to me as a distinct meditation on the dark side of partying set to a soundtrack of punk-leaning grindviolence that conjured up comparisons to bands like Shitstorm and Triac. Since then I’ve followed the band’s career intently through a steady stream of EP’s, splits and LP’s that has seen the band further refine their ferocious and unique bite.

Latest Release?
Whip Hand Paranoia out now on Nerve Altar. Hey, if you’re a big fan of that record Triac did a couple of years ago (I know I sure am) then I highly recommend you check this one out. This album is like 90 percent blast beats featuring perfectly blurred punk guitar riffs and vocals that sound like a drunken alley fight. What a perfect record to bump on Christmas morning as you have to explain to your Dad that you couldn’t afford him that Fitbit he wanted so you got him yet another Home Depot gift certificate. FIX THE TOILET, OLD MAN!
