This is no pale ale folklore! Decibel—North America’s only monthly metal magazine—is, in fact, returning the western edition of the world’s loudest, heaviest, most extreme craft beer festival to Denver, CO; once again tapping the Summit to host Decibel Magazine Metal & Beer Fest: Denver on Friday and Saturday, December 1-2, 2023.
Freshly reunited atmospheric metal kings Agalloch will perform their second U.S. show in over seven years by closing out the festival on Saturday night, while Denver doom ‘n’ roll heroes Khemmis will dominate the first night with an epic, headlining hometown performance on Friday.
If that wasn’t enough, Ohio metal miscreants Midnight will unleash speed and darkness, grinding death dervishes Cephalic Carnage will blaze through a hometown set, death metal/grindcore/hardcore whirlwind The Red Chord will make an even rarer Colorado appearance (their first in the Mile High City in nearly a decade), Denver doom destructors Primitive Man will decimate all within earshot, KEN mode will inflict Manitoban noise rock terror, Finnish death/doom keepers Krypts will make a very special U.S. appearance, while international black metal force Morbikon will play one of their first live shows ever.
The already loaded bill, presented by Relapse Records, is rounded out by the lush orchestration of Salt Lake City’s The Keening, Montréal death metal mind-flayers Phobocosm, Indianapolis melodic death/doomers Mother of Graves, and a dueling pair of Denver’s best underground acts in doom/sludge pillars The Munsens and cosmic death metal crew Astral Tomb.
Not to be overshadowed by the onstage heaviness, America’s most metal breweries will provide the essential suds to the soundtrack of crushing thuds descending on the craft beer capital of the States! Local legends TRVE Brewing (CO) are returning as our Presenting Brewery, and will join Featured Breweries—and Meaderies—Black Sky Brewery (CO), 3 Floyds Brewing (IN), Brimming Horn Meadery (DE), Holy Mountain (WA), Kings County Brewers Collective (NY), WarPigs Brewing (IN), Soundgrowler Brewing Co. (IL), Adroit Theory (VA), and newcomers Magnanimous Brewing (FL) and Little Cottage (GA), in delivering the most extremely extreme—and exclusive—beer and band collaborations anywhere on earth.
“We’re beyond pumped that Decibel’s Metal & Beer Fest is returning to Denver,” says TRVE Brewing founder and co-owner Nick Nunns. “We can’t wait to give the breweries, bands, and mile-high maniacs another ripping weekend of crushing beers and banging heads!”
