Video Premiere: Radian – "They Look Like Good Strong Hands"

Akron, Ohio’s grungiest sludge purveyor’s Radian are no fools. They’re nearly a year past the release of their last EP, Discordian, and soon to embark on a tour, so in the spirit of juicing up interest in said six-songer, they’ve put together a brand new video for the track “They Look Like Good Strong Hands.” Yessir, this thunderous, groovy, ear-catcher is fine way to stir the pot (and the pit, but in kinda slo-mo). The video itself is a pretty no-nonsense affair consisting of the band performing in a warehouse with some swirly, drippy imagery overlaid. as the quartet—Mike Burns (guitar), Bill Govan (bass), Jeff Fahl (vocals), Derek Vaive (drums)—shifts from a thumping, dissonant grind to an unexpected quieter passage with clean vocals.

The video was filmed by Paul Goon and some dude named Chris at an undisclosed location in Cleveland, Ohio. It was edited by Elyse Hirch. Discordian is available on two vinyl variants— transparent beer and green/black splatter—at Bandcamp here and through all digital services. Check out the tour dates below the video.

“Spirits are high and all cylinders are firing which unequivocally shines through in the new ‘They Look Like Good Strong Hands’ video. The transition to Derek playing drums was seamless; he’s a professional with an inspiring work ethic who’s a pleasure to be in the presence of. This incarnation of Radian has stoked a fire in us enough to start writing some pretty fucking heavy material. We’ve also been grinding away at a set for a May run of shows with Drifter in support of our current release, Discordian, and it is shaping up to be an absolute hammer. We’ve coalesced into a true force and really cannot wait to ride this pony onward.”
