We’re less than two months away from the return of Metal & Beer Fest: Philly, an event that’s even more loaded than the people who booked it: 14 bands, 4 full-album sets and nearly 20 of the heaviest craft breweries in the U.S. To front an epic issue such as our yearly Metal & Beer Fest issue requires an epic band, and day one headliners Candlemass, slated to perform their doom masterpiece Epicus Doomicus Metallicus in full for the first time ever on American soil, are that such band. Claiming their first Decibel cover ever, the Swedish heavy metal legends go in depth into the history of their hallowed debut, describing its ascent from obscurity to legendary status amongst the greatest of doom metal albums. Each issue comes paired with an exclusive track from one-woman black metal outfit Hulder, courtesy of the Decibel Flexi Series. On Thursday, June 9 at the Foundry (located directly upstairs at the Fillmore), doom sludge titans Primitive Man headline a special evening with support from progressive death metal heroes Horrendous, death/doom demolitionists Mortiferum, grindcrushers Jarhead Fertilizer and black/death blasphemers Berator!
