As the first song, “Ignis Fatuus,” off Deathless Void‘s new eponymous EP nears its inevitable end, it’s evident the Dutch death purveyors are short circuiting the soon-to-be broken promise of our collective future. The nearly-four minute scape portends a grim and forbidding time when skies are filled with the soot of humanity’s hubris and our spiritual demise. Deathless Void is dark stuff. Musically, the rest of the three-song EP arrows into the right side of black metal’s corpus, recalling, if only violently French firebrands Antaeus or unrighteous German act Katharsis.
Say Deathless Void: “I like to think that the music in this EP is perfectly represented by the artwork, an introspective voyage from shadow to enlightenment through the propulsive, destructive power of chaos. I’m currently working on the music for a new release; I have completed six new songs and working on some more. I love EPs, and I think the three acts structure always works very well, but I’m trying to work in a different way this time. I hope to have the album out in the second part of 2022.”
From the husk of civilization arrive Deathless Void. There’s no preparing for what’s to come…
